Moving your operations to the cloud doesn’t make your compliance responsibilities disappear. It simply changes how you meet them. In financial services, you’re still accountable for protecting customer data, even if it’s hosted offsite. That means your cloud provider must meet strict regulatory requirements, including encryption for data and transit, and at rest, multifactor authentication and detailed access controls.

You should also know exactly where your data is stored. How it’s backed up and what their incident response process looks like. Conduct due diligence before you sign the contract, and don’t assume the cloud automatically means secure compliance is still your responsibility. So partner with providers who can prove they meet or exceed industry standards.
